    Doers of The Word

Ahead of this weekend’s sermon, something relevant was on my heart. When the Lord does this to me, I know He wants me to share. So, here we are.   Read More...

    It Is Finished

Inevitably, every year when Holy Week graces the calendar, I feel so sad. I know, I know...I shouldn’t, but hear me out. I have this profound, bone-marrow deep love for Jesus.   Read More...

Do You See What I See?

The day after the Triumphal Entry, Jesus walks in the Temple and with righteous anger, He cleanses His house. He turned over tables and kicked everyone out who wasn’t using His house for its intended purposes. We can learn something here. Yes, Jesus caused a scene, wrecked the place, and kicked people out, but that doesn’t give us the green light to do that.   Read More...

    The Beginning of Holy Week

To mark the start of the week, Jesus sent two of His disciples to find a donkey on which no one has ever sat. The two found the young colt just as Jesus said they would. This was fulfillment of Zechariah 9:9 “Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!   Read More...

    A Life Like Paul's

I’m geeking out here because I just finished a ten-week study over the life of the Apostle Paul. I’m blown away by so many things, but perhaps the most profound aspect of Paul’s life is that God began molding Paul for his ministry from his early years. Because he was raised a Hebrew, by the age of six he would’ve memorized Deuteronomy 6:4-9, which was fastened to his doorpost on a tiny scroll called a Mesusah. Before Saul’s tenth birthday, he was required to memorize Psalm 113-118.   Read More...

    A Cheerful Heart

Do you remember the story in Acts 5:1-11 about Ananias and his wife, Sapphira? I know it’s a heavy story to start this out with, but I want to draw something different from it. The whole issue is lying to the Holy Spirit, right?   Read More...

    The Best Laid Plans

So, you had your ten-year plan all lined out to a “T” and knew exactly what your life was going to look like. Or, your family had your future lined out and all you had to do was follow suit. How many of you can look back and say, “Yep, my life worked out exactly the way I planned”?   Read More...

    Let's Talk About Evangelism...

I don’t know why this word is so taboo, or why the subject itself causes discomfort, but it’s much simpler than it sounds. What’s the first thought that comes to your mind when you hear the word teach? Or proclaim? Those are synonyms of evangelize.   Read More...

    Pursuing Christ

When I had first come to know of Christ, I was pursuing this world with all of my time and resources. After going to church a few times, I decided that I would give this “christian” thing a try. All I had learned from the church I was going to at the time was to say a prayer and believe.   Read More...

    Reckless Route

    Are We Hungry?

I recently had an epiphany during a sermon by my assistant pastor, Aaron Jones; I don’t live “in awe” of God.  In fact, I go through the motions day in and day out. I get up grumbling that it is too early, I drive to work rarely noticing anything but the tail lamps in front of me, and spend my work day counting down to Friday.   Read More...

    A Servant’s Heart

Sometimes I take for granted the things people do for me and my family. In John 13:15 Jesus told us that He gave us an example in life to follow and commanded us to serve others just like He served us. I think this can be confusing to some people.   Read More...

    One Small Step

One small step for rezoning, one giant leap of faith!Tonight I was a nervous wreck. What if they said, “No?” What if everything we have been working toward fails before it gets started? Tonight was but a small step toward renovating our new church building with the fate in the hands of a city planning committee.Since we took over the building in August, we couldn’t start on renovating the old bowling alley and start making it our new home.   Read More...

    Seasons

As Thanksgiving came to a close and Christmas right around the corner, this is considered the holiday season. Much like this season or the seasons of spring/summer/fall/winter, I believe there are seasons in each of our lives and families' lives. Kristi and I have been going through a rough patch in our family lately, and it has made me think about the season we have been in the past 3 years.   Read More...

    God's Power

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.   Read More...
